About the Pastor

Following seminary graduation in 1993, Pastor Marcia Urban was appointed to the Leland United Methodist Church in LaSalle County, where she spent almost two years. In 1995, she was appointed to the Joliet Trinity.

Throughout her life, Pastor Marcia has worked in a variety of fields, including social work, newspaper journalism, retail sales, and librarian duties, to name a few. She is a musician, singer, poet and fiction writer and has a deep love for the arts.

Pastor Marcia feels that she is able to combine a wide range of skills and gifts in her ministry with God's people in the world and she considers herself very blessed to be able to serve the God who has so richly filled her life.

Trinity United Methodist Church was founded June 26,1904. It is among one of the most beautiful and historic churches in the area. The building features several amazing 30-foot tall stained glass windows, a pipe organ and a gorgeous wood carved statue that adorns the lawn. Visitors of the church cannot help but feel at home in the warm and cozy setting the small sanctuary provides.

Trinity UMC also provides many activities and services to its congregation and community. Some outreach programs that the church participates in are the annual Cropwalk, numerous visits to nursing homes throughout the year, an upkeep of a food pantry, and various others. The "Haunted Church on Graveyard Hill" haunted house, "Breakfast with Santa", the annual Holiday Fair and the "Chillin and Grillin" spring fair are some popular events that are sponsored by the church that the members of the congregation as well as the community look forward to each year.

Trinity UMC also has Sunday school programs for children and adults, a choir, a Saturday night Youth Center, confirmation classes, and other activities for people of all ages to participate in. Visitors are encouraged and always welcome to join us for any activities and worship services.
